Spatial order in the natural environment of the Polish Tatra Mts.

Porządki przestrzenne w środowisku przyrodniczym Polskich Tatr

Summary: The article presents an attempt at a new look at the natural environment of the Tatra Mts. On the basis of detailed results of field investigations carried out in the catchment basin of the Białka, extrapolated on the remaining part of the Polish Tatra Mts, three basic spatial orders were distinguished; belt, vertical zonal and morphological. These orders and the relationships among them were shown on the example of the western part of the Tatra Mts. - the Chochołów Valley. The spatial orders condition the organization, functioning and development of the natural environment; they may be treated as geo-ecological “co-ordinates" of the Tatra geosystem.
